Exhibition: “Deeply Placed” for Samford Art Galleries (L. Evans, Director). Brummund invited two artists to exhibit work alongside her new participatory, video installation. Furthermore, Brummund invited select scholars from other fields (e.g. sociology, theology, geology, & yoga) to create discourse in the space, adding layers to the aesthetic experience.
Project Type: Video installation on sandbox with found objects (4′ x 8′)
Description: This time-based drawing of architecture covers 15 miniature buildings buried in sand. Expressive drawings of each rooftop are projected onto the part of the building that is usually unseen in a streetscape. Multiple drawings of the roofs fade in and out. The viewers hands meditatively move the sand around in the dimly lit gallery. As the sand flows over the rooftops, the scale and clarity of the drawings change. The light is untrimmable as it seeks to line up with a reality that is excess of our perfection.
