Hanbury Street

Date: 2006

Location: London, England

Project Type: Public installation, video

Site: Brady Arts and Community Centre

Description: This project was the first time-based drawing of architecture. The Brady Centre is a community art center in the East End of London. This specific project developed from ideas about the role of the art studio in the community.  The marks on the sheet of paper make a drawing of the building at an acute angle. During a busy market day, community members helped put the sheets on the building and track its development. A poem about 1000 sheets was written by a community member who made an effort to translate my work statement into Urdu.
